Turkish police seized a large amount of drugs in Turkey's biggest city of Istanbul and the northwest of the country, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported on Saturday.
The report said that the Turkish police stopped a truck at Kapikule Border Post in Edirne province linking Greece and found 66.31 kg of heroin in 129 packets in the truck, adding that the police detained 16 suspected people.
In another operation, the Turkish police searched a small truck at Kucukcemece district in Istanbul and confiscated about 250 kg of hashish, said Anatolia, adding two suspected people were detained.
Turkey is a key transit route for smuggling drugs from Asia and the Middle East to markets in western Europe.
